About the role
As a Software Engineer at Afresh, you’ll work on an array of increasingly difficult projects to become an independent, high-impact software engineer. Depending upon the team, the work can focus anywhere on improving our modeling capabilities for ordering fresh produce, creating customer-centric and engaging user experiences, helping scale our mobile app development to support thousands of stores and dozens of partners, or work on tooling to process tens of billions of historical data points collected from tens of thousands of retail stores and beyond.
Your work will help drive the future of food by helping retailers order the right amount at the right time. At Afresh, we’re invested in seeing you grow and develop, make an impact with your role, and help us on our mission to eliminate waste and increase access to fresh food. In this role you will:
- Work on cross-functional projects, directly collaborating with other engineers, as well as product managers and designers
- Give and receive meaningful feedback on code reviews and technical designs
- Build the skills to own a project from beginning to end, learning project management and technical leadership skills
- Ensure that the systems your team operates continue running well and can scale to meet the needs of our users
Skills and experience
- 3+ years of software engineering experience
- Bachelors degree in a STEM field, preferably Computer Science
- Proven track record of shipping high-quality software, apps and services
- Collaborative attitude while also being highly self-directed
- Proactive in self-development and healthy attitude in receiving feedback
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced, startup environment

Depending on the role, you may be asked to take a skills assessment before moving forward with an Interview with a Hiring Manager.
